Ukrainian drones cause disruptions to Russia’s power outages
Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov explained that one drone cut a high-voltage power line upon crashing, while another was shot down near a railway track without detonating, prompting a response from bomb disposal teams. Russian Railways announced delays of up to four hours for some passenger trains due to the incident.
The railway station in Frolovo, situated approximately 430 kilometers east of territory controlled by Kiev and 135 kilometers northwest of Volgograd city, experienced minor infrastructure damage, Bocharov added.
Additionally, the drone attacks led to temporary halts in air traffic around Volgograd and Tambov, as stated by Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia.
Officials in Kiev have characterized these Ukrainian drone operations as efforts to increase pressure on Moscow and push for an unconditional ceasefire. However, Russia has rejected such ceasefire proposals, viewing them as attempts by Ukraine to gain time to regroup its frontline forces. Russian authorities accuse Ukraine of intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, while insisting their own military strikes focus solely on military targets, including weapons factories and fuel depots supporting Ukrainian forces.
