Maldives Posts 43 Percent Rise in Fish Exports

(MENAFN) The Maldives has experienced a remarkable 43 percent rise in fish exports during the first half of 2025 compared to the same timeframe in 2024, according to data from the Maldives Monetary Authority cited by local media on Sunday.

By the close of June, the value of fish exports climbed to $74.5 million, up sharply from $52 million recorded in the previous year, driven primarily by a significant increase in export volumes, media reported.

From January through June, the country shipped over 44,877 metric tonnes of fish, a notable jump from approximately 26,850 metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year, highlighting intensified fishing activities nationwide, media added.

Amid this growth, the Maldives is pursuing a strategic agenda focused on strengthening the fisheries sector’s role in boosting national revenue and enhancing overall economic stability.
