Hamas Accuses Netanyahu of Starving Israeli Hostages

(MENAFN) A high-ranking Hamas representative has claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to eliminate Israeli captives held in Gaza by starving them, following unsuccessful efforts to target them via aerial bombardments.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, alleged that Netanyahu and the “Nazi government” have enforced a policy of hunger and dehydration on Gaza’s residents, which has now extended to affect Israeli detainees.

He held the Israeli leadership entirely accountable for the current state of those captives.

Al-Rishq insisted that Palestinian resistance groups are handling the Israeli hostages in accordance with moral and religious obligations.

He asserted that the captors are sharing limited resources such as food and water equally with both the detainees and the general population of Gaza.

He referenced earlier prisoner swaps, emphasizing that previously released Israeli prisoners had been in sound physical and mental shape.

However, he claimed that the captives now exhibit signs of starvation, exhaustion, and significant weight loss — reflecting the broader suffering endured by Gaza’s besieged civilians.

According to Al-Rishq, Netanyahu’s harsh policies toward the people of Gaza are now also entrapping the hostages, with the Israeli prime minister allegedly attempting to subjugate them through severe deprivation.

He further argued that Netanyahu’s use of starvation is a deliberate component of his wider strategy to resolve the hostage dilemma.

“When Netanyahu could not find the hostages and kill them through airstrikes, he is now trying to end the matter by starving them,” Al-Rishq stated.
