China, Cambodia Commit to Deeper Bilateral Relations
(MENAFN) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol in Beijing on Tuesday, reaffirming the nations’ commitment to bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted China’s preparedness to collaborate closely with Cambodia by following the strategic consensus established by the leaders of both nations, aiming to boost high-level exchanges and deepen mutual trust.
He called on both nations to speed up the execution of cooperative projects across multiple sectors, effectively utilize the frameworks of the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” and achieve more tangible results.
Emphasizing their unwavering diplomatic backing, Wang pointed out that the two countries have consistently stood by each other on matters vital to their core interests, while criticizing certain countries for engaging in unilateral bullying and imposing tariffs to coerce the global community.
Chanthol expressed deep appreciation for China’s long-standing and invaluable support, reaffirming Cambodia’s dedication to advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and steadily building an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.
The talks also covered the ongoing border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand. Wang expressed hope that both nations would seize opportunities to speed up reconciliation and pledged that China is prepared to offer assistance depending on the willingness of both parties.
Chanthol recognized China’s significant role in promoting dialogue and reiterated Cambodia’s resolve to resolve the dispute with Thailand through dialogue and negotiation at the earliest possible time.
