India Arrests Aide Linked to New Delhi Blast
The agency named the individual as Kashmiri resident Amir Rashid Ali, “who had conspired with the suicide bomber to carry out the terror attack which claimed 10 innocent lives and left 32 others injured,” according to a statement posted on US social media platform X.
Authorities noted that the “vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED)” detonated last Monday in the Indian capital was “registered” under Amir Rashid Ali’s name.
The assailant responsible for the attack was identified as Umar Un Nabi, another resident of Kashmir.
The explosion took place near the Red Fort, a historic Mughal-era monument, last Monday.
The Indian government described the event as a "terrorist incident” orchestrated by “anti-national forces.”
The investigation agency confirmed that another vehicle belonging to Nabi was also recovered and that inquiries into the attack are ongoing.
Earlier reports from a media outlet indicated that the death toll from the blast had increased to 13.
