Stabbing Attack Leaves Two Severely Injured in Germany

(MENAFN) A stabbing in the western German city of Solingen left at least two people with severe injuries Wednesday afternoon, a German newspaper reported, after a heated confrontation in the city center spiraled into violence.

The attack unfolded when a dispute between two men escalated sharply, prompting one of the individuals to produce a knife, according to the newspaper. The altercation quickly turned dangerous, drawing in an unsuspecting bystander.

Authorities identified the suspect as a 46-year-old man who allegedly stabbed the other party in the dispute before turning on a third individual who had stepped in to de-escalate the situation. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody following the assault.

Solingen local police confirmed the operation on social media platform X, acknowledging that investigations are still ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The incident marks the latest in a series of knife-related attacks to have shaken Germany in recent years, reigniting public debate over urban security and the government's capacity to prevent spontaneous acts of street violence in densely populated city centers.
